 NATHALIE WUTKEE AGREDANO’S

THE RESOURCE

MOVEMENT AND SOUND COLLECTIVE

THE RESOURCE is a collaborative dance and live music company started by dancer and choreographer Nathalie Wutkee Agredano. The inspiration for starting the company was a need to create—an urge to produce and a passionate desire to build a live music and movement experience that performers and audience members could share. With the help of Scott Buchanan of The Hillcrest Center for the Arts, Musician Amanda Carson, and Sound Healer Christopher Parnell, the inaugural show EL-E-MEN-TAL premiered in Thousand Oaks, California, in 2017.

What is the company’s style?

The company’s movement style leans towards elegance and simplicity, athletic strength, and emotional subtleties. It primarily uses Postmodern Dance as a foundation, influenced by all human movements and expressions. The sounds can range from silence to body percussion, instruments, vocals, and electronics. We focus on giving composers freedom and creativity to use any sounds to contribute to the wholeness of the piece. And because everything vibrates, that includes sounds you may be unable to hear. We are mindful of all the sound waves present, including those from the performers, audience, room, instruments, lights, etc. The company aims to work with composers to create original and live music as often as possible and as the needs fit each piece.

Who is in the Company?

The company loves working with performers from all movement disciplines, explorations, & backgrounds and always invites individuals to curate and showcase their personal expression on the floor and in life. We invite all ages and movement styles to participate and perform because of the richness they provide to the artists in rehearsals and the unique perspectives and reflections they give audiences and communities.

The company’s artistic goals include

  • Contributing to local and regional art

  • Giving musicians and dancers opportunities to create and perform.

  • Providing artistic and creative opportunities to graphic designers, lighting designers, photographers, videographers, costume designers, stage managers, and crew members.

  • Providing a distinct experience of the powerful influence and healing properties of live music and sound vibration

  • Creating a sense of community and unification in shared experiences

  • Sparking excitement and encouragement to others to create their own works, arts, and passion projects in any field

  • Sharing Resources with any and all communities
